KnowWake is a community-driven marine chart app. The goal is to make marine navigation and planning simple for everyone.
This platform allows users to explore numerous dockside and waterfront locations spanning across the United States, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, South Africa, United Kingdom, parts of Europe, the Arabian Peninsula, and now even Australia and New Zealand. Within the app, users can discover over 50,000+ verified salt and freshwater points of interest, including restaurants, marinas, fuel docks, services, dive shops, boat ramps, dive sites, snorkel areas, bridges and locks, raft ups, popular spots, town docks, anchorages, inlets, and more.
The app also provides a comprehensive Marine Weather suite, delivering current and forecasted conditions reported at 5000+ stations worldwide. This suite includes essential information such as tides, temperature, wind speed and direction, swell heights, water temperature, precipitation, sunrise and sunset times, moon phase, and additional details.
KnowWake utilizes crowdsourcing to enable real-time viewing and reporting of hazards, police activity, and other crucial information. Notable features within the app consist of simplified and color-coded waterways for wake zones, access to NOAA Channel Markers, Buoys, and Beacons, an anchor alarm to receive alerts if you stray beyond a predetermined area, a virtual dive flag to alert other vessels about swimmers in the water, point-to-point waterway routing with distance calculations, real-time depth information, location sharing capabilities for individuals, groups, or the general public, vessel tracks for reference or sharing purposes, offline mode functionality for use in areas with limited service, augmented reality to preview upcoming points of interest with distance and direction indications, as well as an SOS button, Safety Checklists, and Float Plans for enhanced safety measures.
